The training itself has been handled
by Vision Technology Consulting Sdn Bhd (VTC) and divided into two parts which
is in class syllabus training and workplace training. The training has been
enrolled on 25th July 2016. On the first day, we’ve been introduced
by Mr. Wei Hoong, Mr. Goh, Mr. Leong, and Mrs Sin Hooi about what is the main
objective of the training, aims, and what actually the Oracle is. There is a
total of 43 students who registered to be a part of the training program and
they are all from UTM, UiTM, UNISZA, and UTHM. While 3 months in the training,
we also be given an allowance of RM500 per person every month.
On the first day, we’ve been
briefed about the evolution of technologies from the pass until present, the
history of oracle company, when it has been started, who are the people that founded the company, how does it get
started, and how did they strive to excel until now, which they are famous and
now known as a big company. At the end of the briefing, we have been exposed to
the future technologies such as Internet of Thing (IoT), Wearable technologies
(Smartwatch, Fitbit, Google Glass), Cloud Computing, Augmented Reality, Virtual
Reality, and Big Data. We’ve been told that these technologies are the future
and will be globally used by everyone.
On the second day, we have
been taught on the architecture of oracle database and what is table space.
After that, together with the trainer, we managed to setup Oracle Virtual
Machine on physical computer. The purpose of installing Oracle Virtual Machine
is that everything such as training materials implementation will not affect
the physical computer but only the virtual machine itself. It is also important
for us to keep our work remain private so that everyone that use the computer
will not disturbed our work on the virtual machine. We also learned about Oracle
Virtualization, Oracle Linux, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition
11g, and Oracle SQL.
Basically, on the first week
we have been taught a lot about configuring listener, database security, locking
database, managing database space if there are any possible chance to compress
the used space. During the teaching lesson, we also been given a chance to do
lab exercise for each syllabus because the practical lesson is more effective.
On the second week, we started
by learning about backup and recovery concept, and how to configure the backup
and recovery using Oracle Virtual Machine. The trainers have given us a chance
to do group discussions, individual assignments, and also group presentations
to test how much we learned during the training. OBIEE 11g which has been
introduced back in 2011 also been taught in the classroom training by Mrs. Sin
Hooi and we all need to do a report based on the data provided.
After finished the classroom
training, we have been placed on the job training with VTC located at Medini 6,
Iskandar Puteri and each of us has been given a role which is Technical
Assistant team (TA), OBIEE team, Java team, SQL team, and also Software Tester.
Each team will be supervised by the trainers. During the on the job training,
we have been given a real project by trainers so that we will gain experience
for the future. We need to sit for an examination to be certified by Oracle.
In conclusion, I would like to
thank Global Business Services, i2m, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Johor Bahru
and Vision Technology Consultant for giving us a chance to expose ourself in
Oracle training, and also sponsored us while the training being held.
